Geocache Description:

All aboard the international cruise of flavors.......This crazy cruise ship has embarked upon a world tour, with curious and hungry cachers aboard. The itinerary is every country in the world, one restaurant at a time, all without leaving the confines of Central NJ. 18th Stop ... Germany!

Join the Central Jersey Cachers to enjoy delicious German cuisine, make crafts and ornaments, and share the Holiday spirit on

December 20 @ 7:00 pm

This wacky cruise ship will be returning to Europe for the holidays to visit Germany!

Food has always been a major part of German culture. Even the well-known German fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel, makes reference to food. Hansel and Gretel, brother and sister, discover a house in the forest made of gingerbread and candies.

Christmas in Germany is celebrated with many delicious dishes, including Christstollen - fruitcake with bits of candied fruits, raisins, walnuts and almonds and spices, sprinkled with confectioners sugar; Pfefferkuchenhaus - a gingerbread house decorated with candies, sweets and sugar icing; Weisswurst - sausages with veal and bacon; Springerle - sweet biscuits; Weihnachtsplätzchen - Christmas cookies; Roasted goose; and of course ... Feuerzangenbowle - a traditional German drink for which a rum-soaked sugarloaf is set on fire and drips into mulled wine!

This is a dessert stop! We will provide Christmas cookies, Stollen, hot chocolate, Feuerzangenbowle, and craft supplies. If you would like to share your favorite Christmas cookies or other snacks, please feel free to bring them.
