The White Fig (ficus virens) is a tropical rainforest tree with a greyish bark, large bulbous roots & many folds and crevices within its roots and trunk. Located towards the eastern end of Anderson Park in an area less frequented, it is worth a stroll through the tropical rainforest area to view the variety of palms and tropical vegetation and experience the peace and tranquility of this magical spot.
Enter the Park near the Kokoda Memorial Swimming Pool. There is a lovely native flora section and giant tree at this spot. Then follow the trails through the park towards the eastern end where there is a tropical rainforest section. The White Fig is located within this section. The cache is a small plastic container with the regulatory notebook and pen, the geocache note and some small swappables. Take time to enjoy the various aspects of these beautiful gardens, maybe even take a picnic lunch or just enjoy the stroll. Be careful not to disturb or damage the many ferns growing around and upon this lovely tree.
