Geocache Description:

A straightforward cache placed along a lovely walk with some great views, especially when the sun is setting.

The Durotriges tribe was mentiond by Ptolemy in his “Geography”. They are believed to have been an iron age tribe whose territory included Dorset and parts of Somerset and Wiltshire. The Durotriges were involved in fighting with the Romans who invaded around AD 43-44.

Badbury Rings, an Iron Age fort in the Durotriges’s territory can be reached by continuing along the footpath and crossing a stile on the left hand side at the top.

This cache has been placed with the kind permission of the National Trust.
