This cache is part of the Kittatinny Valley State Park Interpretive Geo-trail, created to highlight the natural and historic features of the park through the family-friendly sport of geocaching.
About 150 feet down the trail heading south along Lake Aeroflex, you will discover a stone chimney in the woods. This was most likely part of the YMCA Camp Wawayanda's Hemlock Lodge which was perched above the Hird Swimming Dock and boating area. A boat shop once stood nearby, and a large boathouse down along the lakeshore stored the camp's fleet of canoes.
"The stairs have a little landing half way down, then continue down to the water level. Rowboats were docked at the bottom of the stairs. Along the shoreline to the south was the swimming area cove for non-swimmers, nicknamed the "sinkeasy."
