The road is used by Saint John Water to access pumping stations and dams. This cache is in the woods next to a dam on Menzies Lake. I have been here a few times, and mostly the water level has been low and there is little flowing into the stream below the dam. On the day I place this cache, November 25 2013, the water level was high, and the run off fierce. The water was roaring over the dam and the brook was full. I would have like to get a nice picture of the waterfall, but there didn't seem to be a safe spot with a good view.
The cache is in the trees across the road from the dam, so no danger. (Lots of garbage in the woods, sadly.) You can have a laugh at my expense when you see the cache - I carefully wrapped it in camo duct tape and then realized that the bright red string I used as a hanger was very visible! Hopefully it will fade with time.
On the day this cache was placed I walked from Prince of Wales to the Acamac Backland Road (ATV trail), and then along the water supply access road to this cache. I placed this cache to be accessed on foot or by off road vehicle not as a park and grab. Please remember there is a gate at the beginning of the road and that it can be closed at any time.
