These rocks hold fond memories for me. My gran lived closed by and most holidays I spent in the area. My dad and I would often fish off these rocks, except they seemed much bigger back then. The locals use to call them “Castle Rocks”.
One day while fishing some newbies came down, they were going to give this a go. The rods were new; the reels came out the box, brand new. The new line was still on the plastic reals. Been the kind people we were, we helped them to setup. We put the line on the reals for them and got everything ready, even the traces.
Time to bait up, we asked them what bait they had; they were going to use sardines. Sounds good, except the sardines that they had brought were in a tin. Tinned sardines, better known as pilchards.
I will never forget the day. A true fishing story!
