Geocache Description:


MK Pedestrian Area
Since year 2000, Transport Department has been implementing pedestrian schemes in several areas, whereas the most famous and well known one should be Mong Kok.


The Mong Kok pedestrian area covers several street, like Sai Yeung Choi Street South, Soy Street & Nelson Street.

During the effective period, it is always crowded with different performers and spectators.


Currently, effective time is Mondays to Saturdays, 4:00p.m. to 12 midnight, On General Holidays, 12 noon to 12 midnight, however, as nearby resident complain the noise problem, the effective period will cut to only open on weekend and holiday.

Acid Attack:
At 2008, 2009 and 2010, there are 3 acid attacks incidents happended at Mong Kok, where plastic bottles filled with corrosive liquid (drain cleaner) were thrown onto shoppers on Sai Yeung Choi Street South.



7/24 CCTV Camera
After the acid attack, HK government had installed a surveillance camera system (cost HK$1.7 million) at Mong Kok, and recording 7/24, the system is still running now.
