The cache is a small magnetic tube placed at one of the entrances to the Withybeds Nature Reserve. There is a car park nearby and a path leads from there, across a short field to the reserve. The reserve can also be accessed via a path from Presteigne town.
The Withybeds is a small nature reserve, an SSSI, managed by Radnorshire Widlife Trust, on the edge of the town of Presteigne. It is a delightful area of broad-leaved woodland alongside the river Lugg, with an abundance of wildflowers, fungi and birds. Board walks allow you to explore the area without even getting your feet wet or muddy. The walk around the reserve only takes a few minutes but take your time, stop and listen to the babbling of the river, see if you can spot a kingfisher or a woodpecker.
Due to the risks posed by the river and the sensitive nature of the reserve itself, please keep on the path within the Reserve, keep all children under close control, all dogs on leads and please don't pick any flowers,
Adjacent to the nature reserve is a lovely open area known as Wentes Meadow. The fields were donated to the town of Presteigne several years ago, to be used by the people of the town for their enjoyment. It is a lovely area where children and dogs (and adults if they feel so inclined!) can run free.
This cache was placed with the kind permission of Radnorshire Wildlife Trust.
