Geocache Description:

Come on out to South Park for a mid-winter meet and greet with PAGA!!

Big deal if its February, and it might be snowy and cold, and we are probably getting a little stir crazy from sitting in the house not being able to get out and cache much. So, I have the perfect way to break those winter blues. Come and join us at the Montour Shelter in South Park - located behind the barn. Our shelter has a built in fireplace, so we will have a warm fire going to help fight chills away. The event will run from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM on February 8th. There is plenty of parking across the street from the barn.

The event will be potluck, so bring something that you can share with the rest of us. The shelter does not have any electricity, so hot plates and crock pots probably are not the best idea. We will bring some munchies and snacks with us, and probably a couple boxes of Joe. If you could note what you will be bringing in your Will Attend lot, that will be ground. This way, we can get an idea of what is coming. As we get closer to the event date, a list of food items will be posted on the event page.

Besides having a pot luck, there are a bunch of caches hidden around South Park that you can go out and grab while you are here. Some of the roads are closed for the winter, so the caches in these areas of the park will take longer to get to, but there are a bunch that are easily accessible year round. There is also a playground right by the shelter, so if the younger ones want to play on the equipment, be sure to bring a towel to wipe down the swing. Dogs are also welcome to join us, as long as they are friendly and can play nicely with other dogs and kids.

Now…on to our excuse for hosting this wintertime get together! Over the last year, PAGA has hosted the 2013 Cache Across America Travel Bug race. Well, the race has concluded and its time to give out the prizes to winners. Its been a great race this past year, one that I could not have foreseen doing this well. The bugs traveled far and long, reaching just about every state in the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. At the conclusion of the awards ceremony, a big announcement will be made and everyone will want to stick around for this. I don't want to give away to many details now, other wise it won't be a big announcement.

Even if you did not take part in this years race, nor care about the big announcement, please stop by and say hi. There will be no doubt, plenty of food and cache chat going around. So come on out, say hi, and join us in February! We look forward to seeing everyone!!
