The origin of the name of Kusozu River flowing under the bridge is "Kusai mizu (smell water)",
We can see that the oil had gushed into the area for a long time.
In the Edo period, there is execution ground near here.
From the fact that sinners are mirrored at last herself
on the surface of the water of the river from the bridge,
and it is named "Omokagebashi (Vestiges Bridge)".

面影橋（おもかげばし）は，秋田県秋田市を流れる草生津川に架かっている橋です。ペンをお持ちください。
面影橋は，かつて旧羽州街道が通っていた橋です。
この橋の下を流れる草生津川の名前の由来は「臭い水」で，
古くからこの地域に石油が湧き出ていたことが分かります。
江戸時代，この近くに処刑場があり，罪人が自分の最後の姿を
橋の上から川の水面に映したと言うことから，「面影橋」という
名前がつけられたとされています。
