While researching my route to RockDawg's Quitman Canyon geocache, I saw Quitman Cemetery on Google Maps. A little research showed it is all that is left of what was once Fort Quitman. You can read a bit more of the history here: http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/tx/fortquitman.html
Though I'm not a big fan of park and grabs, I've always been a fan of cemetery caches because of the interesting history and photo opportunities they contain.
The fence to the cemetery was closed when I placed this, and I did not open it. You do not need to go beyond the fence to find this cache. Border Patrol is heavy in the area; be prepared to explain what you are up to.
Speaking of photo opportunities, it was suitably foggy on the day I visited.
