Geocache Description:

Welcome to the First Annual Funcoast Bash!


We will have geocaching, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, raffles, eating, biking, contests, info seminars, and just a plain ol' good time.


A fun-filled day of geocaching events. We have planned several activities and happenings that we hope all of our geo-buddies will enjoy. 



The entrance fees are below:

  • Vehicle (2-8 People):$6.00
  • Vehicle (1 person): $4.00
  • Extra passengers, passengers in vehicle with holder of Annual Individual Entrance Pass: $2.00
  • Motorcycle: $4.00
  • Pedestrians & bicyclists: $2.00

The caches inside the park will be released late Friday night (after park closing 7 PM) and the ones outside of the park will be released early Saturday (day of the event on the 8th) morning. We will have a listing and the ability to load them at the pavilion, please bring your cable to connect to the PC just in case. Thanks!

We will be having several games and informational seminars. (See below)

We are looking for volunteers to help with the events as well as donations for the raffle. Please contact us if you can do either one or both.

We will have someone to check in and out of Travel Bugs and Geocoins. You can also bring your collectible TB's and geocoins to share (Discover) with other geocachers.

Dinner will be at 5 PM and we are planning to supply hamburgers and hotdogs, buns and condiments along with utensils and napkins. Please bring a covered dish, side item and/or drinks to share.

Schedule

  • Registration will be open at 8:00 AM
  • The Raffle will take place at Noon, 1 PM, 2 PM, 3PM, 4PM, 5PM and last one at 6PM, make sure to buy your tickets early. See the TCD website for more information (click on link above)
  • Geocacher Bingo will be from 8 AM to 1 PM
  • Geocaching Creed seminar 9 AM (Do's and Don'ts of Geocaching)
  • New Geocacher classes at 10 AM and 2 PM
  • Cache Container Cammo Class 11 AM – Bring your own or paint some of ours
  • Cache $wap Game at 4 PM (see TCD website for game rules)
  • Dinner at 5 PM (See above for more information)
  • Please check back regularly as we add and update information

    There will be Geocaching Vendors at the event for all your Geocaching needs!


    According to the Myakka River State Park (MRSP) website: Myakka River State Park . "Myakka River State Park is one of Florida's oldest and largest state parks. The "Florida Wild and Scenic Myakka River" flows through 57 square miles of wetlands, prairies and woodlands. Myakka is popular for hiking, fishing, camping, and wildlife observation."

    **** But they left out Geocaching, so we are going to make sure they know that this is the place for that too! So please try to CITO when you can and be respectful of the park and the wildlife. Please obey the park rules so that future generations of Geocachers can enjoy the wonders of the park and Geocaching!

    Items to bring with you to the event


    • GPS, of course you can’t forget that (and connecting cable if you want us to load the caches at event)
    • A PDA or Smart phone to hold information about the caches (Terrain, Difficulty etc.)
    • Water, LOTS of water if you’re going out on the trails
    • Bring a lunch for yourself and/or your group
    • $$$$ for the park entrance fee, if you want to buy raffle tickets, and/or buy items at the Geocaching Booths here at the event
    • Some food or drinks to eat and share with others, be it a side dish, a veggie tray, a cheese tray, cookies, cake, pies, meatballs, bags of chips, cans of soda etc.
    • A raffle item to donate (if you want to, but not required). It could be a matchstick holder, a roll of camo duck tape, an nano, ammo can or geocaches, hiking sticks, geocoins, a tent, hiking or camping items, more or less anything to do with geocaching (It would be much appreciated)
    • A cache or two if you want to play the Cache $wap Game (see TCD website for more information)
    • Pens to sign all those fresh new logs or stamp if you have one
    • Bicycle(s), Kayak(s) or Canoe(s) to go after those types of caches
    • Bug Spray, lots of it!
    • TB’s, Geocoins, or other similar items to discover, share and/or trade
    • And last but not least, A SMILE because we are here to have FUN!!!!
