We happened upon this area a few months back and thought it would be a nice spot for a cache. It is not uncommon to find a cemetery or two while you're out on the backroads of Iowa, but to find two right next to each other is a little more unusual.
Danish and Mount Olive Cemeteries are located in section 23 of Ellsworth Township, Hamilton County, Iowa. These small cemeteries sit on a small hill overlooking rich farm ground and is just to the north of the small community of Randall, Iowa. The Danish Cemetery is the one located on the northwest corner of the "T" intersection.
These cemeteries are Hamilton County Pioneer Cemeteries.
The first burial was made on a farm, the family later allowing a cemetery to be established there. According to the trustee book, the first person buried in the cemetery was Paul Christian, who died in 1882. There are four veterans identified in the Danish cemetery.
