How to Tell Time
(A Little Golden Book)
by Jane Werner Watson,
Pictures by Eleanor Dart
Little Golden Books is a popular series of children's books that were first published on October 1, 1942 by Simon and Schuster in cooperation with the Artist and Writers Guild.
One of the books was released in 1957 and was a favorite of mine when i was growing up. This book was "How to Tell Time" and it included a real clock-face and hands and the clock can be set to represent the time of the day as the story develops.
The story featured a little boy named Tommy O'Toole, but his family called him "Tommy-Too-Late". Because that's what he was--always late. Once he learned how to tell time, he was then known as "Tommy-On-Time".
For many years the publisher wanted to bring out a book with real watch hands that would teach young children how to tell time. The hope was that with the help of this little book millions of future adults will learn to be on time, and not to keep their husbands and/or wives waiting.
This this 7" x 8" cardboard back treasure carries the recognizable gold spine characteristic of Little Golden Books.
