A Tale of Two Cities Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

jken324: Gonna put this one to bed. The city has placed porta John's right near GZ and that's kinda gross, plus it seems like the cache is missing and I unfortunately do not have time any more to properly maintain caches. Thanks to all who visited.

Geocache Description:

A quick, easy cache to keep a streak alive or just for a quick find.  Bring a pen. Very high muggle presence in the summer so use stealth.  Please replace the cache as found. The cache IS NOT on Seven Presidents property.

As you make your way to this cache, you will see brand new three story homes that line the south side of Seaview Ave. but this wasn't always an idyllic place for a seaside home.  As recently as the early 2000's this part of Long Branch was somewhat dangerous.  Boarded up houses used to line this street which were frequently used by squatters to use drugs and do other types of behaviors.

Seeing that prime oceanfront real estate was going to such waste, city officials controversially used eminent domain to seize the properties in order to better to utilize the space and increase the tax base.  Long Branch has come a long way from the run down, blighted neighborhoods of the 80's and 90's but the job isn't done yet.  Travelling just west of Ocean Blvd. will still bring you to unsavory neighborhoods and redevelopment of downtown Broadway has stagnated thanks to the economic downturn of the late 2000's.

The area of the cache and the north end of the oceanfront is much safer than it was not that long ago.  Long Branch is certainly a tale of two cities.
