Klif Orłowski rozciąga się na długości około 650 m. Jest wschodnią granicą rezerwatu Kępa Orłowska, chroniącego płat polodowcowej wysoczyzny morenowej, dzisiaj wyraźnie porozcinanej dolinami erozyjnymi. Budowa geologiczna klifu jest mocno zróżnicowana, co ma wyjątkowy wpływ na rodzaj występujących w nim procesów zboczowych. W górnej części ściany klifu zobaczyć można utwory gliniaste, muły i iły zastoiskowe, żwiry oraz piaski i namuły tarasowe - to pozostałości po czwartorzędzie. W niższych partiach ściany widać wyraźnie odsłonięte przewarstwienia. To osady reprezentujące miocen.
Erozja klifu czyni go perfekcyjnym miejscem dydaktycznym - przynajmniej z geologicznego punktu widzenia. Odcinek dotyczący tego earthcachea odsłoniły głównie, ale nie tylko, procesy osuwiskowe.

- 1-7: które warstwy pozostawił po sobie miocen, które pliocen, które plejstocen a które holocen?
(zaznaczone na zdjęciu granice mogą się zmieniać po kolejnych porach roku, jednak z grubsza wszystkie będą jeszcze długo widoczne)
- czym są charakterystyczne miejsca oznaczone strzałkami (są czymś innym, jeśli mają zabarwienie żółtawe i czymś innym, jeśli są szarawo-czarne)
- zadanie opcjonalne: zdjęcie przy realnej tabeli stratograficznej - no dobrze, jej wycinku - jest naprawdę wartościową pamiątką ;)

The Orłowski Cliff is about 650 meters long. It is located along the eastern border of the Kępa Orłowska Natural Reserve, which protects a part of a post-glacial moraine upland, cut by erosion valleys. The types of slope processes occurring on the cliff face are related to its very complex geological structure. The upper part of the cliff is composed of clay, varve loams and silt, gravel, sand and terrace mud deposits – remnants of the Quaternary. In the lower parts you can see interbeds dating back to Miocene.
Erosion makes this cliff an extremely interesting educational site, in terms of geology. The section of the cliff face presented in this EarthCache was exposed mainly (but not only) by landslide processes.

- 1-7: which layers were created during which of the following periods: Miocene, Pliocene, Pleistocene, Holocene? (The borders of the layers marked in the picture may change slightly depending on the season)
- What are the characteristic areas marked by arrows? (Hint: it depends on whether they are yellowish or greyish-black)
- Optional task: it would be a shame not to take a picture of this real-life illustration of the geologic time scale ;)
