Geocache Description:

Since we didn't get a chance to have a Dirty Santa Christmas Party for our area we are hosting a special River Region get over the holiday blahs event.  Time to dust off those gifts that you were not so crazy over and join your fellow cachers for some good ole laughter and fellowship!!

Event time: 6:30 pm

Everyone is welcome whether you are a cacher or a muggle or significant other, friend or foe.

You do not have to bring a gift, you can always just come and heckle the rest of us. So come out and enjoy the start of a new year!!!

Here’s how to play:

  • Each person that wishes to play should bring one wrapped previously owned gift. (This can be geocaching related or one of those “oh-you-shouldn’t-have” gifts you got as a present from Aunt So and So.  There is a $10 limit on the value of the “gift”.  Please be tasteful. The gift has to be in working order and should not be considered ‘trash”.

  • Numbers will be drawn to see who goes first. The person with the lowest number goes first and then the next lowest number…etc…

  • The person with the lowest number chooses a wrapped regift and opep it for everyone to see.

  • Here’s where things get interesting.  The person with the next lowest number can either take the opened regift or select a “new” wrapped regift.  If they choose a “new” regift, they must open it for all to see. This will continue to all the gifts have been chosen.

  • An item that is stolen three times becomes frozen. After an item changes hands three times, it can no longer be stolen, and stays with the third person who stole it. If a regift is taken from someone, that person gets to immediately choose another “new” gift to open or they can get revenge by stealing someone else’s gift.

  • When all the regifts have been opened, the person with the lowest number gets to trade with anyone who doesn’t have a “frozen” gift or keep the regift they ended up with.  It’s only fair.

Inevitably, some gifts will generate laughter (I hope) and loathing in equal measure. For those who don’t want to keep the ceramic teddy-bear cookie jar that sings when it’s hat is removed, it can be donated to a charity of your choosing.
