Geocache Description:

The Stanhopeburn Mine, located along Crawelyside Bank, just north of the town of Stanhope is the eastern-most mine on the Red Vein, which runs the length of Rookhopeburn to the west.

The site is located on a public footpath which can be quite wet and muddy. The most interesting way to walk is by parking on Crawleyside Bank to the south and walking up the footpath, which is the second on the left as you walk up the bank.

There are a number of disused mine buildings set back from the path, as well as adit entrances. It goes without saying that you should not go into these, particularly if you have kids with you.
