Geocache Description:

As the girl, grrl and I were taking a nice stroll on a mild December afternoon, I came across this area in the woods of Honey Hollow Nature Preserve.

Honey Hollow Nature Preserve is part of the Bucks County Audubon Society.

The Bucks County Audubon Society (BCAS) is a private, non-profit organization founded as a chapter of the National Audubon Society in 1969. Since its inception, BCAS has been dedicated to conserving wildlife, promoting awareness of environmental problems watching birds, educating the community about the interdependence of humans and their world, and furthering the wise use of land, air, and water.

You can walk the 8 miles of trails every day dawn to dusk. Stop by the visitor center for a map and learn about school programs and calendar of events. There are restrooms available inside, and picnic tables outside.

As you may or may not have considered thoughtfully already, animals are just like us. Everyone's gotta go!
Now, you may be familiar with that old saucy punchline that asks: does a bear sh...*ahem* Make #2. Yes indeed they do, and many times it is, uh, in the woods. Well, it's the same with our friend the red fox!

You may be thinking, "But I am not friends with any foxes." Sorry, I can't help there. All my female friends are married. Oh! What I meant was foxes are not usually seen by us, even though they are all around us. They tend to be shy creatures. But one way we have of knowing foxes are indeed around is by coming across their *toilet.*
Did you know foxes do double duty when they do their doo-dy? From "Animal Scat Notes" at northwoodsguides.com:

"Fox scat is approximately 2 inches long & 1/2 inch in diameter with pointy ends. It may contain hair, bones, insects, berry seeds & undigested fruits. Fox will usually deposit their scat on a prominent object such as a rock, stump or log to mark their territory."

I am sure you are feeling quite glad right now that you have read this cache description, and learned some of what you always wanted to know about fox poop! You are welcome!

This cache might require a bit of hunting to find (there is usually some degree of bounce under tree cover). While you are at it, you will have the happy opportunity to apply some of your newfound knowledge. See if there are any signs nearby of your friend and mine, the red fox. Just be careful where you put your hands! The cache contains a log only (another pun-ny near-miss!) so you will have to BYOP.

Happy caching!

Congrats to stretchwell for FTF!
