C.B.H.U. - Cairns Bruce Highway Upgrade
Following almost two years of demolition, diversions, pile driving and construction, Stage One of the CBHU - from Sheehy Road to Ray Jones Drive is almost complete.
One of the key elements of this first stage, was the construction of an overpass from the Bruce Highway, over Ray Jones Drive, to Mulgrave Road. Prior to the construction of this overpass, the high-voltage powerlines which cross the Bruce Highway at Woree, had to be raised. The old single tower was removed and replaced with two new, much taller, high-voltage transmission towers. They are very shiny and most impressive.
All commuters travelling North along the Bruce Highway into Cairns, now pass safely under these high-voltage powerlines.
We have provided co-ordinates for suggested parking. Parking in this area will ensure a short and safe walk to the cache hide. If you park at the suggested parking, there is no need to cross any roadways to access the cache.
If you have a keen eye, this cache maybe easily located, but care must be taken when accessing the cache hide, as at most times of the day or night, there will be plenty of muggles commuting past. A bit of luck with the changing of the traffic signal at the nearby traffic lights may work in your favour. We would suggest either an early morning or late in the evening visit, but the cache itself is available 24/7.
This is a 'log only' cache with no room for swaps. Remember to bring your own writing stick, to record your visit for posterity.
