Looking for beaches or camp sites in Sai Kung and don’t need to walk too much, Long Ke Wan beach in Sai Kung will be perfect for you. You could reach this pollution-free beach / campsite within a 20-min walk after a taxi ride from University MTR station.
Take a taxi from Sai Kung Town or MTR University station to “East Dam” of High Island Reservoir, one of the Hong Kong GeoParks, where you can see some rare polygonal volcanic rock columns, and also the huge concrete dolosse units that protect the seafront. Its beauty makes it become a famous pre-wedding picture-taking spot LoL.
After reaching the East Dam of High Island Reservoir, there are only 2 routes – walk down to take a close look of the reservoir or walk up to Long Ke Wan. Walk up for 20 mins (not tough at all – good for family or dog lovers) and you will see the South China Sea on your right and the Long Ke Wan beach in front of you. The building at Long Ke Wan is Long Ke Treatment Centre for drug rehabilitation.
Country Trail: MacLehose Trail – Stage 2 (You can walk there but just not too fun in my opinion)
Facility: No restaurants, Stream water (seasonal supply)
How to get there:
1a.Take MTR to Choi Hung (green line), get out at Exit C and get the 1A Green Minibus to Sai Kung Town (40 mins) OR;
1b. Take MTR to University Station
2. Then take taxi to”East Dam” of High Island Reservoir (30 mins, ~$150)
(my preferred way is through University Station)
Hint: Btween the path and the beach along the river
