Geocache Description:


The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates, which indicate a very wet location. The final container can be found at 38 34.ABC, -121 4D.EFG.

When I placed this cache in mid-January 2014, northern California was experiencing a horrific drought. For example, Folsom Lake is at its driest it has been in decades--parts of the lost mining community of Mormon Island were visible for the first time since the Folsom Dam project flooded the area in the 1950s. Governor Brown declared a drought emergency on January 17, 2014.

Besides giving a name for this geocache, the phrase "How Dry I Am" is famous from a small lyric in the 1919 Irving Berlin song, "The Near Future" and its later ironic use as a drinking song. (The term 'dry' means abstinence from alcohol.) The song appears in numerous Warner Bros. cartoons as a stock substitute for the explicit mention of alcohol and/or drunkenness.
