O once I lov’d a bonie lass,
Aye, and I love her still;
And whilst that virtue warms my breast,
I’ll love my handsome Nell.
And so begins the first recorded poem by Robbie Burns at the tender age of 15. Who loved the lassies more, or wrote more about them--or to them, than Robbie Burns? (Published in celebration of his birthday, January 25th,1759)
His poems, songs and letters devoted to the lassies are much too prolific to address in this small tribute. Below though, are 10 lassies whom Burns felt the desire to pay tribute to, as only The Ploughman Poet could. You must find the poems/songs referring to each lassie and find the one word answer required from each one. Then, a simple DR exercise as directed below to find the cache. There may be more than one poem per lassie to find however. We hope you enjoy your reading assignment----but remember--- the best laid schemes o' mice an' geocachers gang aft agley !
