Zebras are her favorite wild animal. Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cameramoose: A couple of years ago, I came across some new animals.....camzebson and later the camzebco. I used them for this cache after the original was muggled. Sadly, it kept being muggled, and now I realize these animals are extinct. It makes me sad, but I cannot replace this container. May the next CO to use this spot have better luck than I.

Geocache Description:

Zeebee IV is quite small. You will need a tool to get the log....and maybe the cache.

Zebras are her favorite wild animal, and of course she loves cats, dogs, hamsters—just about all animals!  This cache is dedicated to my youngest and is between two of her favorite places.  One a favorite place from childhood; the other also a favorite and the place she wants to work when she is grown.

Zebras are more than just über cute horses.  They are lean mean machines built for survival on the savannahs of Africa where they live on a diet of grasses, shrubs, bark and leaves.  Their stripes help to camouflage them.  Zebras live in herds, called harems, made of four to thirty members.  When he is a large group, it makes it difficult for predators to tell where one zebra ends and the next begins.  He will only sleep when surrounded by friends, and then he sleeps standing.  Stripes also helps in zebras blend in the grass and shadows of the savannahs.  Like human fingerprints, no two zebras have the same stripes.  The further south in Africa one travels, the further apart the zebra’s stripes are!

They are one of the few single hooved animals in the world.  That single toe helps him to run faster in his environment with speeds up to 35 miles per hour.  He also has good stamina to help him out last predators.  If cornered, he can be very aggressive and fight off many a foe, and has been known to kick and bite hyenas to death—especially if his family is in danger.

The gestation period for a zebra is 12-13 months depending on species of zebra of which there are three.  After a baby is born, he can walk within about 20 minutes.  The mother will keep her baby in isolation until the foal can recognize her which usually takes about two days. They can live up to 25 years and grow to be anywhere from 3.5 to 5 feet tall.  They weigh between 440 to 990 pounds.

While this is not a logging requirement, if you are pressed for enough words to keep your platinum badge, feel free to fill your log with facts about your favorite animal.

Please take care in replacing the cache to ensure it is out of view.  Thank you!!
