5,000 Days of Geocaching Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Stonagal: Thank you to H.erectus&Lucy for checking on this for me. He reports the cache is missing, and the area appears to be frequented regularly by muggles. Doesn't look like a good spot for a cache after all. Thanks for playing!

Geocache Description:

This cache was hidden to commemorate the 5,000th day of geocaching.

January 10, 2014 marked 5,000 days following the hiding of the original “GPS Stash” in Northern Oregon on May 3, 2000 by Dave Ulmer (which makes January 9 the actual 5000th day of geocaching).  You can read about the original cache at this Geocaching.com page.

By coincidence, January 10, 2014 also marked the 10th birthday of the world’s first earthcache!

To find this cache, begin at the trailhead waypoint and walk east, then south.  Turn west into the woods where you see a rusty barrel on the ground (off the trail).  The forest is scenic, pleasant, and easy to navigate.  BYOP.

Congratulations to H.erectus&Lucy for the FTF!
