BYOP. Part of our Marshall Co. Cemetery series. This one may be a little tough to access during the winter, but there should be enough space to pull off on the shoulder of E-29. If you attempt it from there, be careful for passing traffic! The cache itself is winter-friendly. Shouldn't be too much of a problem with muggles. Please respect the property.
Hixite Cemetery is located in Section 13 of Marietta Township in Marshall County, Iowa. It is also known as Hicksite Cemetery or Heacock Cemetery. They added a sign to the front of the burial ground in 2015, otherwise this place is easy to miss as you're driving past on E-29. Not sure how this got it's name, but I'm guessing the term "hick" refers to what you think it refers to. Perhaps the folks that were buried here considered themselves to be hicks and other "city slickers" from Marshalltown called them this and they just took to the name. I believe there is one Heacock buried here, probably the first burial hence the alternate naming of the cemetery.
