Geocache Description:

This early evening event is a chance for us to get together and talk about the day; the nice spring weather, caches found or unfound, or what is going on in our lives these days.  Heck, we might even tell some ghost stories and tall tales.

Time: 4:30 pm BYO$ if you plan to eat

After all, Old town Spring is affectionately known as the most haunted town in Texas. Paranormal groups and television crews have visited to catch evidence of this. The many stories of spirits bring in people from all over looking to have their own experience with a ghost. I'll start, with one I heard about this place right here.

Charlie Wunsche was the son of the town's founder.  Along with his brothers Dell and Willie, Charlie built the two story Wunsche Bros. Hotel & Saloon in 1902.  Charlie Wunsche is that he fell in love with a young woman who didn’t love him in return. After she jilted him, "Uncle Charlie" became very depressed, and lurked about the restaurant in a state of unhappiness until he died, and apparently never left.

Several waitresses have reported seeing Uncle Charlie.  In 1984, one of them reported a man in a black suit waiting for his coffee that disappeared right in front of her eyes.  An artist who was living in the room where Charlie died woke up to find a man staring at him, and sketched him out of charcoal on his drawing pad.  Later, he showed the sketch to others who confirmed this was Charlie he was looking at.  Whenever remodeling or construction is being done on the old landmark you can count on Charlie making his presence known.  Coffee machines will start and stop on their own, nozzles for the soft drink dispensers will mysteriously disappear only to reappear weeks later, unlocked doors will not open as if being held by someone on the other side, chairs rattle and move about, and strange shadows move along the old hallway upstairs. Several people have reported seeing the face of a man on the second story window.  I myself saw it one time on a ghost tour here, although it might have been a resident of the second floor...an unearthly resident?  Come and gawk at the windows, and see if YOU see the face of Uncle Charlie looking back at you!
