Geocache Description:

Come see the only remaining old wooden covered bridge in southern Illinois.  Collect the Waymark, if you are into that sort of thing.

"Built in 1854, in continuous service from 1854-1930. Was originally part of a planked toll road between Breman and Chester. All of the timber in the bridge is the original with the exceptions of the floor, floor joist, roof and siding. Aquired by the State of Illinois in 1936 for purposes of preservation and a picnic area. Money for the purchase of the site was donated by Chester Chamber of Commerce."

When I first got started caching, there was a cache here.  Or rather, there was a listing, but the container apparently had gone missing by then.  The hide might be a little difficult, but even if you get a DNF, at least you can tell people you visited a historical site.  While you are here, read the other sign to learn some more local history.
