Geocache Description:


It’s been a long and cold winter and the need to cure that cabin fever is in high demand.  Join us for an exciting day.  We will begin with a Meet and Greet at the Heirloom Market / Café from 10 am – Noon. This will be a great time to share your geocaching journeys and have a bite to eat. We will follow up with an Introduction to Geocaching class for beginners at the Ingersoll Wetlands Learning Center at 12:30.

Schedule for the day:

10 am - 12 pm Meet and Greet: Heirloom Market/Cafe, Thomson IL.
12:30pm – 1:45pm - Introduction to Geocaching - Ingersoll Wetlands Learning Center

1:45 – 3:30 Let’s go geocaching
Participants will head out in search for these hidden treasures.  Some will be temporary hides for the event and some will be actual geocaches that can be logged as a find.

Wanted: Experienced Geocachers to volunteer for the field practice portion of the class. When you log to attend, include that you would like to volunteer and send an email to Pam_Steinhaus@fws.gov

You can make your reservation by submitting a "log your visit"; "will attend"  or call the Ingersoll Wetlands Learning Center at: 815-273-2732 ext. 116. Please include the TOTAL number of people that plan on attending.  Heirloom will need to know in advance how many people to expect and I will let them know through your logs.

Do I need a GPS to attend?
No, GPS's will be provided with the Geocaches already loaded.
Two weeks prior to event a .gpx file will be posted so you can download geocaches into your gps prior to event. Some of these will be daycaches and some will be local geocaches and some new ones.
