3 years ago we held the first campout in Kinlochleven in early May and we suffered at the hands of the weather fairy. This time we are going a few weeks later and we are hoping the sun will shine and if not that it will at least be a bit warmer and less windy and wet than last time.
Caolasnacon Campsite is nestled in a glorious setting just outside Kinlochleven and a few miles from Glencoe. It is situated on the south shore of Loch Leven and surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery,
As everyone will be arriving at different times on the Friday, there will be no organised meal that night. The chippy in Kinlochleven is highly recommended. We can send someone down with a big list around 7:30 and then gather in Archie to catch up and swap tales
For the Saturday, during the day you can spend the day caching, shopping, playing in the loch, sight seeing, whatever you fancy.
In the evening we will have a Princesses and Pirate themed birthday party, it would be great if you could dress up in fancy dress for the evening. During the planning for this event it became apparent that a lot of cachers have birthdays in May and June so we will have one big party to celebrate them all, there may even be cake. There will be a barbeque for dinner and a campfire on the shoreline.
After the BBQ we may even have a caching quiz, yet to be confirmed with the quiz writer, there will be prizes for the winners
Sunday will hopefully be a very relaxed day, before we head for home
As at previous camping events the campervan catering company is available to cater for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday and the BBQ on Saturday night. To cover the cost of the food, we will need to apply a small charge, we are looking at £10 for adults and £5 for anyone under the age of 16. This will also cover tea and coffee for the weekend and some juice (until we drink it all)
Please let me know if you would be interested in the catering by Monday 26th May, so we can buy in supplies. Money will be collected at the event, I will make a spreadsheet
Caolasnacon has room for tents, caravans and campervans, please note they don't accept bookings for these, it is case of turn up and pitch up. We have discussed this with them and they are confident they will have room for anyone who wants to come along.
