The South Hills is now part of the "bear buffer zone" (or perhaps "buffet" zone) in Missoula. There is an ordinance that garbage must be kept in bear resistant containers or be kept inside until trash collection day. Bears are moving into town to feast on unpicked fruit and uncontained trash. They also enjoy raiding neighborhood bird feeders. A few months ago I saw one walk across the road on Simons Drive not far from here.
It is important to do whatever we can to discourage bears from finding these easy food sources. Life in the big city can cost them their lives.
This cache will likely be a quick park and grab for most. Be sure to bring your own pen.
