I ♥ Geocaching Lab Cache Valentine Event Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

tumbleweed2: This one is long over, and time to be archived. Thanks everyone for coming and for playing the games. I would try to upload the paper airplane flying contest video, but it is too long to post.

Geocache Description:

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2014

6 to 8 PM

For the month of February, every Premium Member of geocaching.com will be able to hide one personal geocache for one special person. Once this geocache is found and logged by one account, it is automatically archived. This is not your father's geocache — it is a Lab Cache for the month of February only, which celebrates "I ♥ Geocaching". A Lab Cache is an experimental and extremely rare geocache type. We need your help, in making this a unique Geocaching Adventure.

Everyone is welcome to attend this event.

Everyone who attends will be able to participate in several games we have planned plus a drawing for the FTF honors of several new caches placed just for this event.

If you wish to participate in the "I ♥ Geocaching" Lab Cache game, please do the following:

1. On February 3rd, details on hiding a "I ♥ Geocaching" Lab Cache will be announced to all Premium Members by Geocaching HQ. Follow the special guidelines, visit the Builder (link will be provided February 3rd) and hide your cache. Please note that there are very few restrictions on Lab Caches and no review process. Just use your imagination and common sense.

2. Keep your Lab Cache and its URL address secret. Write this information in a Valentine, seal it up in an envelope and bring it to this event. Don't indicate who it is from on the outside but do include the URL address link and your contact information (such as email address or at least your Geonick) on the Valentine itself.

3. When you arrive at this event, turn in your Lab Cache Valentine and you will be given a numbered ticket. We will call numbers and everyone who brought a Lab Cache Valentine will randomly choose an envelope. That will be your special Lab Cache that only you can log. Everyone who brings a Lab Cache Valentine will receive one.

4. When a cacher finds the lab cache he was given the coordinates to, he retrieves the container and that becomes his “valentine gift” from the hider. So he gets a gift as well as an FTF honor!

Again, everyone is welcome to attend whether or not you decide to hide a "I ♥ Geocaching" Lab Cache. We will have plenty of fun to go around! However, you must hide a Lab Cache and bring a Valentine in order to receive one in return. The Valentine can be a homemade one or a store bought one.

We will have more details after Geocaching HQ makes their big announcement on February 3rd. We are happy to answer any questions you may have after that time. Please log your "will attend" early so you don't miss announcements and updates.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Many thanks to The Waysiders of Rome, Georgia for allowing me to copy their Event idea, and for the use of their custom Graphic Design.

Update 2-12-14: A little bit more information can be found here However, for this event, you will not be able to select who gets your Lab Cache to find, so you might not want to have your Lab Cache be too personal, like the proposal mentioned here.

Here is the additional info, posted on Feb 3rd by Geocaching HQ giving all the details on how to set up your Lab Cache.
