Geocache Description:

Church Micro 5113...Billingham:

The Church of St Cuthbert in Billingham is located to the west of the Green in what is known as Old Billingham. This Grade I listed Saxon building dates from the 9th century, although a grave marker was found dating to the 7th century (now in the British Museum). Billingham grew from a small village with a population of 355 in 1801, to 36,165 in 2011. The church has seen many additions throughout the years, the north aisle in the 12th century; the south aisle in the 13th century and the top added to the tower in the 14th century. The most recent addition is the eastern arm, rebuilt in 1937 by Charlewood (George Edward) of Newcastle.

Cache details:

There are free parking spaces in front of the church (I won’t tell you how many, you’ll need that for the Green Puzzle) or just north around the corner on Station Road. The cache site can be accessed via the churchyard or the small residential cul-de-sac to the south (beware of muggles though). The cache is small with just enough room for the log and maybe a small swap. Please bring your own pen and of course, replace as found. A few interesting pictures of the area would be nice too, happy caching!
