Geocache Description:

This is a regular sized cache at the awesome Uretiti beach. Take a minute or two out of your journey and pop in here to enjoy everything this beach has to offer. Im not sure which part is, however there is a clothes optional section (nude beach) somewhere along the 10 kilometre stretch.

You will have to leave the path a short way. Be careful not to damage the dune plants.

  • The following info is taken from the attached website.

  • Uretiti Camp Ground – a DOC managed ground, where  you can camp behind the dunes with just basic facilities and live on this amazing beach.Great safe swimming, and part of it is an official clothes optional beach.  In fact most of the time you can find a spot to swim by yourself even at the height of summer
  • cycling on Uretiti BeachFabulous horse riding beach – racehorses can be seen being trained and the locals are regularly out and about riding.
  • Great swimming and  oogie boarding – including a Ruakaka Surf Patrol at Ruakaka Beach
  • At low tide – a wide hard strip of sand is great for cycling, or sand sailing.
  • A dog walking beach – the dogs can walk and run and not annoy others.  (Not between 9am and 5pm in the summer).  Don’t go into the bird reserve at the Waipu River end, and PLEASE do not let your dogs chase birds anywhereon the beach.
  • teararoaGreat fishing beach – lots of long liners and surfcasting.
  • It is legally a road – so some cars drive on it, so care is needed in the summer when it is crowded. TAKE CARE
  • The beach is also part of Te Ara Roa - The Long Walkway which goes the length of NZ. If you see anyone walking on the beach with a big backpack, they will probably be walking this trail.
