Cache hidden near the landmark Black Rock of Raratonga.
The famed Black Rock, at the north-west end of the island just south of the airport runway is a very popular swimming spot.
You can get ‘jet blasted’ at the sea wall on certain days when the jets come in, and they pass about 5 metres overhead, which is quite thrilling. Then travel down to the rock for a swim. If the tide is in, the pool is full, but there is also good surf nearby.
The cache is hidden in the Black Rock area, (though not in the immediate vicinity of the rock) and there are other interesting amenities nearby that are well worth a look. The nearby accommodation of the same name boasts a fine dining restaurant, only open on Saturdays and Sundays, which is worth booking a visit too, and a very friendly owner. .
The cache is hidden with the knowledge of the nearby landowner. Please be sure to replace exactly how and where you find it.
When hidden, the 200ml Sistema contained a logbook, sharpener, pencil, Highlighter pen, ball and a can opener key ring as an FTF prize. Also contained a TB brought from New Zealand that wants to travel further.
