Geocache Description:

Come on out for a fun filled summer solstice with a brief meeting at the summit of the iconic West End of Rundle! Please be aware that this is bear country, and this event will be held very much within their natural habbitat. Come prepared with plenty of water, bear spray, insect repellent ( the mosquitos on this hike are relentless, ) a proper day pack ( 20 - 30 litres, ) lunch, proper attire, rain gear, change of clothes, hiking poles etc.

When: June 21st, 2014 at 2:00 PM MDT thru 2:15 MDT. Please allow 7-8 hours (or possibly more, depending on your pacing), round trip. This journey involves 11km of distance round trip, with 1,577m of elevation gain.

We will meet and greet after a successful day hike at 2:00 PM; resting and enjoying the million dollar views. I will provide a log book for the event. Prior to parting ways at 2:15, we will have a group photo.

Where? The summit of Mount Rundle West End. Reaching the summit involves easy - moderate scrambling, please educate yourself prior to posting a 'will attend' log on the hazards and risks you will be exposed to on this scrambling route. Parks' Canada provides a very detailed brochure on the route to / from the summit. This can be located with a quick search, or obtained from a Parks' Canada office. The Canadian Association of Mountain Guides have provided us with a very useful checklist of must have day - hiking gear, to be properly prepared, please review it prior to attending. Please be advised that this event is located within a national park, and you will be required to pay all applicable entry fees. This event is located outdoors, within the Rocky Mountains and conditions change rapidly. If in the days prior to the event the forecast looks bleak, the event will likely be rescheduled for another time.

Once again, prior to posting a 'will attend' log, please take the time to review the abundance of information pertaining to this trip published both online, and in print. Your safety on this trip is your sole responsibility
