In 2003, a group of intrepid geocachers from the North Carolina Piedmont braved the climb up the Blue Ridge Escarpment to cache the alpine wilds of our state, with the considerable help of the local cachers, particularly GoJoey and Shava4, who served as our guides that day. We called our event Head for the Hills. The night after we cached, the local geocachers graciously hosted us flatlanders at Jack of the Wood.
Now, in 2014, we're doing it again, with many of the same folks, still caching after all these years. GoJoey's hosting an event the night we arrive, and we're hosting another one – this one - after our full day of caching (primary destination: Bradley's Bottom). Come to the posted coordinates above starting at 5 pm, and you'll find yourself at Asheville Brewing's 675 Merrimon Avenue location, where you can get pizza, burgers, and beer, meet-and-greet your fellow cachers, and celebrate our (hopeful) caching success.
They can seat just 25 of us in the space reserved, so please RSVP by March 8th with your headcount. You can still "will attend" this after we hit the 25 mark, but you'll have to fend for yourself in the brewpub, as far as getting a table is concerned, though of course you're still welcomed and encouraged to come by, sign the log and say hi. (We'll post a note indicating when the 25 count has been reached, FYI). We have the space reserved until 7 pm, so that will be the end of the event.
