Delamere Park Old Gate.
Delamere Park is a housing development built on the Wilbraham estate established in 1784 when the wealthy and powerful Wilbrahams moved the family seat from Nantwich to Cuddington and built one of the largest houses in the district, Delamere Lodge. Delamere Lodge survived until just before the Second World War when the last George Wilbraham built Delamere Manor a property nearby which until recently was occupied by the famous pop musician, Gary Barlow.
During the Second world war, Delamere Park became an army transit camp, occupied first by British troops and then by thousands of Americans prior to the D-Day invasion. After the war the former army huts were used to house local people on the Northwich Rural District Council's housing list including many people who were relatives of serving Polish soldiers.
At the above co-ordinates you will see the Delamere Park Old Entrance Gate which was originally standing at the entrance to the Delamere Park Estate main driveway (now gone along with the gate lodge beneath the housing estate), at the junction of Cuddington Lane and Norley Road. There is also an information board about the Park. Use this board to answer the questions below and find the cache.
