Geocaching & Spelunking - A Seminar


This Event will be held at the Yankauer Nature Preserve near Shepherdstown, W. Va. Beginning at 3 PM, it will last for 30 to 40 minutes. If perchance you are in the area for any or all of WVTim’s Seminar Events, do avail yourself to this opportunity. This is an excellent way to occupy your time before Tim’s Night Event over in Sleepy Creek.

What kind of special equipment do you need to go underground? What should you wear? Is specialized gear needed? Can you be part of a team? What is proper spelunking etiquette? Several veteran spelunkers and climbers will be present to share their expertise, as well as to answer any questions you might have. Topics for discussion will include spelunking safety, the difference between climbing rope and static lines, as well as how to use a 'grigri’. Does that funny sounding word whet your curiosity?

Then Come On Down! This is an excellent opportunity for those who want take their geocaching to another level (albeit, the level is down, not up). The purpose of this Event is to educate and prepare geocachers for the cooperative challenge of exploring an actual CAVE! And get this, the Event is being held about 0.8 miles from an actual CAVE (GC2MD1H). Huzzaaahhhhh !

Do be sure to bring along your own equipment for ‘show and tell.’ And be sure to place this event on your ‘watchlist’ so you don’t miss any future updates.
