The Coyote trail is hike, bike, motor bike and horse path around the Chamisso Canyon and Cedro Peak area with scenic views of the Sandia mountains. There is not much elevation variation but the trail winds around quite a bit, which is why I have given it an intermediate terrain rating. While this is a forested area, not many of the trees offer much shade until you get well back in the trail, so bring sunscreen and pack some water for this hike. There are cacti near some of the caches and the potential for rattlesnakes, but the most likely hazard/nuisance is the trail itself: the soil has some clay, which can be both slick and sticky when it gets wet, so don't wear your favorite shoes to do this trail right after a rainstorm.
