Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Geocachers of the Midlands Memorial Day Weekend Camp out! We will spend 3 days in Dreher Island State Park camping, kayaking, scavenging, eating and of course caching! With some ghost stories thrown in just for good measure!

There is a fee to enter the park: $2 adults; $1.25 SC seniors; age 15 & younger free

You can find camping info on the State Park Website at ---->Dreher Island State Park

If camping with GCOM you do not need to pay to enter the park. Pass thru the gate and proceed to Primitive Camp Trail located at N 34 04.807 W 081 24.054 and follow the dirt (bumpy) road to the end. You must be registered with GCOM to camp in this area. Click here ---> Geocachers of the Midlands on Facebook for more info on camping.

Saturday will start with a CITO hosted by Backwoods Geocachers (GC4ZREA) at 10:00am.

That will be followed by a Nature Scavenger Hunt at the Rangers Station located at N 34° 05.111 W 081° 24.489 on the back deck from 1 pm to 1:30 pm. We will pass out hunt sheets and participants can find items thru out the day. Sheets will need to be turned in to Billy or Wayne by 7pm. Completed sheets will be entered into a drawing for a 2 $15 Gift Certificates from Landsharkz. We will also raffle off Geocachers of the Midlands Pathtags! Winners will be announced at the Ghost Stories camp fire at 8:30. (See below)

Several cachers will have boats (kayaks and BIGGER) at various times during the day so you can knock out some of those pesky island caches! Check the group page on Facebook for more info!

Later in the evening we will come together at the camping area fire ring located at N 34 04.472 W 081 24.222 for some good ole story telling courtesy of our special guest Resqsarge03 from the Upstate. We will meet from 8:30 pm til 9:30 pm.

Please post how many will be in your group for each event so we can plan accordingly.
