Saturday March 29th!
This is one of those Registered events. Every cacher who logs "attended" at this event will receive a "Maker Madness" souvenir! And yes, you must physically attend the event.
This will be a fun and simple Meet -n- Greet. Let's all get together, meet some familiar faces and hopefully match geo-names to new faces, and talk about all things Geocaching!
Event will begin at 11am (Saturday March 29th) near the large grassy steps located at the end of the pedestrian bridge on Brown's Island. Posted GPS coordinates will take you there!
Event will last for approximately one hour and then we will have a raffle with prizes. Three of you will win a cammo'd container personally created by myself. Hopefully you will hide it in the field for the rest of us to seek out!
The location of this event will provide a spectacular view of the mighty James River, multiple historical sites, train bridges, white water rapids, and the beautiful city skyline of downtown Richmond, Va. This will be the perfect opportunity to bring your camera!
-CACHE HIDER WORKSHOP-
The second part of the event will be the Cache Hider Workshop. This is a workshop specifically designed for active cache hiders and/or new cachers who desire to place a cache in the field for the rest of us to enjoy. Let's get together on Brown's Island and discuss the finer points of cache hiding techniques! The goal of this workshop is to hopefully learn some valuable knowledge from local cache hiders and ultimately improve upon our own hiding techniques. There are so many fantastic caches around the Greater Richmond area hidden by many creative cache hiders. This is when we can come together and inspire each other! Lets challenge ourselves (if you're up for it) and help turn Richmond, Virginia into a dynamic mecca of Geocaching!
Each workshop (if successful) will cover different aspects of hiding caches in the field. This first Cache Hider Workshop will show you in great detail....
How to obtain ACCURATE GPS COORDINATES.
Whether you are using the most expensive Garmin GPSr or simply an iPhone/Android, by the end of this session you WILL have a better understanding of the process involved with getting accurate GPS coordinates for your caches. Be prepared to walk around quite a bit as we will be venturing out into our immediate surroundings and experimenting with various environments with hopes of obtaining accurate coordinates and ultimately testing them for precision.
WORKSHOP WILL BEGIN AT 12PM ON BROWN'S ISLAND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE MAKER MADNESS MEET -N- GREET.
You will need to bring a pen and your GPS or smartphone. After the workshop, we can all go out for lunch and/or we can go out for some group caching!
