Geocache Description:

This is an old school letterbox.  You will be looking for a plastic ammo can in the woods, but you will not have the final coordinates.  It is hidden in an ordinary fashion - nothing devious.

Follow the directions below to find the cache.  If you follow the directions carefully you shouldn't have any trouble finding it.

Please be sure to rehide the cache at least as good as you found it so that it doesn't get muggled!

This cache is in the Game Lands.  Be sure to follow all Game Land rules and regulations, and wear orange during hunting season.  Avoid this cache during deer season!!!

  • Since this is a letterbox-hybrid there is a stamp and an ink pad in the container.  It is NOT swag.  Please leave them in the container.
  • If you collect letterbox stamps go ahead and stamp your book.  The log book is large enough for you to stamp it with your stamp if you have one, but it is not required.

OK, here we go.  Follow the directions below and you should end up at the cache

  • From the posted coordinates go 145' at a bearing of 225 degrees.
  • At this point you should be looking down a small trail in the woods that heads down toward a creek.
  • Walk down the trail, over the creek and up to the field.
  • Notice the bird house just off to your right.  This is a good landmark to help find the turn on your way back.
  • Mark this point on your GPS.
  • Turn right and walk along the edge of the woods.
  • At about 450' you should see a trail heading to your left across the field.  Turn left onto that trail.  (If the trail isn't mowed during the summer you can continue to follow the tree line.  It doesn't take you very far out of your way, and you will end up at the same place).
  • About 480' after you turn the trail heads into the woods.  You will see a birdhouse on your right as you start in.
  • After walking the trail for about 0.20 miles you will come to a cornfield.  Turn left to walk between the cornfield and the woods.
  • Go to the end of the cornfield.
  • From the end of the cornfield head straight into the woods for about 90' at a bearing of 210 degrees.  (It looks like there may be thorns around this area during the summer, so be prepared).
  • At your destination you should see a multi trunk tree with prominent roots.  Check them out.
