Geocache Description:

This is geocaching in a unique part of Wales & a place close to my heart. Laugharne has a rich history including its Castle which goes back some 900 years, it's own council called the Laugharne Corporation & of course was home to the welsh poet Dylan Thomas.

This is a small clip box situated along a path called the Birthday Walk which was named after a poem written by Dylan thomas called " Poem In October "

It is also a circular walk which is approximately two miles & will take you uphill along the shoulder of Sir Johns Hill. Enjoy the magnificent views of the estuary, the Gower, North Devon, Caldey Island & Tenby.

The path was orginally created & paid for in 1856 by the laugharne Corporation to enable the townsfolk & cocklers to access by foot their share of the valuable cockle beds on the marshes when the high tides would prevent acess along the old cartway.

Make your way from the carpark in Laugharne, to the start of the walk. Please be careful as the path does follow the edge of the cliff & can be slippery.
