The event is at the top of Sunset Peak. The hike from the trailhead will take 1 to 2 hours depending on how fast you walk. The eclipse begins at ~10 pm and finishes at ~3:30 am. I'm bringing a tent and stove. Bring along your camera equipment and whatever you'd like to cook up. This is a great opportunity for some phenomenal photos of the eclipse high above the city lights. If you make it up before the sun goes down, you'll see why this peak is called Sunset Peak. Keep your fingers crossed for a cloudless night!
Don't forget your camera, tripod and an extra battery or two. You'll need them both to take a good photo. If you're not too sure how to take a night shot, basic info will be provided and we'll start experimenting to see what works for you and your camera. If you bring your flashlight or headlamp, it is preferred to use one that has a red light or lens. This helps prevent blinding each other and accidentally shining your light into a camera lens.
The event starts at 9pm and ends when the moon has reappeared. I'll be there all night.
To fully experience this event, you'll need a camera, tripod, and the necessary camping/backpacking gear to make your night pleasant. None of this of course, is necessary to attend the event. Just suggested to get the most out of it. If you bring lighting (ie headlamp or flashlight) be sure it has a red lens or LED mode to avoid blinding others and effecting the photography.
Rain doesn't cancel the event, but it does move it indoors to the Baldy Lodge in the village.
