"Holy Xylophagous" Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

puppet48: Unfortunately this site has been mugged twice, with both containers used for firewood, thanks to the clever detective work done by Captain No Beard during my absence in Europe. My aplologies to Ranger for not getting back to him during his many unsucessdpful attempts.....right place...just not there to find.

Sadly I'm archiving the site.....really nice little spot, but obviously frequented to often by others not involved in caching.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

A gentle bushwack in off an old woods road at the end of Anderson Street....one of my favorite stomping grounds. Lots of flagged mini-trails in the area as well.

Cache container is not big, containing log sheets only. Please bring your own pen/pencil.

While I was out on a recent snowshoe trek, I thought I saw some evidence of a xylophagous creature at work. Before you get too excited, Wikipedia states that the term woodboring beetles encompasses many species of beetles whose larval or adult forms eat and destroy wood [i.e. they are xylophagous].

Though the vast majority of such beetles are ecologically important as primary decomposers of dying or dead trees, some species can become economic pests by attacking relatively healthy trees.

Your mission [if you accept to venture out] is to determine 1. whether such creepy crawlies are actually in this area and 2. whether they pose any significant threat to fellow geo-cachers who may also be brave or foolish enough to investigate this reported sighting.

Have fun and please replace the container and cammo material as found.

A special "thank you" to Hansen6 for agreeing to moving a near-by cache to accommodate the placement of "Holy Xylophagous".
