Most people have a cat or a dog as a pet but Murray Stevens had a 600 pound black bear named Tony. Some hunter friends had shot the bear's mother and later they came across the cub. Murray rescued the cub by taking it in. Tony was kept in a strong wire enclosure with a cement floor. It used to be located across the road from this cache. Tony could often be seen lazing in the bathtub, playing with a tire or sleeping in a huge metal box. Mealtime for Tony consisted of 12 loaves of bread, several quarts of milk and 6 pounds of oatmeal. He also enjoyed fresh fruit, acorns and his favourite treat - orange pop! Each summer 300-400 people would stop to visit Tony - the famous bear of Delta.
This cache is a park and grab in a unique container. Please bring tweezers and a writing instrument. Parking can be found along the wide shoulders of the road.
Congratulations Ms Muffet on FTF!
