About 1880, lake trout, herring and whitefish were abundant in Lower Beverley Lake but due to various changes in water temperature and chemical conditions, these species have since vanished. In the 1920's to 1960's strings of 30 or more fish were not uncommon for a morning's catch. Today about 30 different species of fish inhabit Lower Beverley Lake and the most important to the angler are the large and small mouth bass and the northern pike.
