A visit to Scotland's oldest university
Professor James Alexander MacDonald (known as Jay) led the Botany Department at the University of St Andrews until his retiral in 1977. He was a delightful man and is remembered with great affection. This small cache is placed near the lecture room where he delivered his always interesting lectures. There are many things of interest to see nearby so take some time to look around. There are two main entrances to this area, it should be noted that the northern entrance (the one with "In Principio erat verbum") is closed on Saturday and Sunday.
