This is the next in the occasional series of al fresco weekend coffee mornings at lovely locations. It is to mark my recent move to Wales and as it is my birthday there may be cake! It would be really nice to meet up with some local cachers so come along from 10am on Saturday 5th April with your chair and a flask for a relaxed and informal chat for a couple of hours or so.
The meet is in Cyfarthfa Park, Merthyr Tidfil CF47 8RE, in the grounds of Cyfathfa Castle. We will gather at the picnic benches, but I hope that we will be able to take shelter in the bandstand nearby in the event of rain. There is plenty of free parking in front of the castle which is only a few minutes virtually flat walking from the meet. There are toilets in the grounds and in the main building. For those wishing to make a day of it, I would highly recommend the free museum of social history in the castle. Merthyr has a fascinating heritage, and was for a time the worlds leading iron producing town. Just outside the park is Cyfarthfa leat and old Gurnos tramway, scheduled ancient monuments connected to the ironworks. A few miles to the east is the Brecon Mountain Railway, if you fancy a ride on a steam locomotive. There are a number of established multi-caches around the town to take you to places of interest. Look forward to seeing you; fingers crossed for the weather but do please bring a rain coat!
